  • Overview

    Palermo Villa Inc. is seeking a high-energy health and safety professional to partner in developing and implementing procedures with the line organization that effectively control accident and health exposures in the company and minimize OSHA exposures.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

    • Evaluates hazards within the facility for safety and health risks.
    • Develop and maintain SharePoint site.
    • Develops health and safety procedures and programs and monitors safety compliance to reduce risks.
    • Develop chemical change procedure and maintain safety data sheets so they are accessible at all times according to regulation.
    • Develops inspection policies and establishes regular inspection schedules.
    • Conducts and/or supervises training sessions for emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protections, forklift safety, etc.
    • Maintains all industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.
    • Trains designated employees to lead accident/incident investigations and reporting.
    • Tracks all safety training to ensure timely completion and compliance.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of and ability to implement safety policies and associated procedures and systems 
    • Knowledge and working experience with OSHA.
    • Ability to provide detailed reports with relevant required preventive and corrective actions
    • Ability to be an effective team leader / team member and to positively influence others toward achievement of common safety goals and objectives.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products, primarily the use of word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software
    • Ability to develop and make presentations before various audience sizes at all levels of the organization.

     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum of 3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related subject.
    • Preferred Licenses or Certifications:  OHST, GSP or ASP.
