The Technical Project Manager position seeks to create an environment where all business process owners are integrated with IT to drive business solutions. The position is part project management as it is part technology integration across our Manufacturing, Sales, Supply Chain, Warehouse and DSD areas. The project manager will plan, organize, and integrate cross-functional information technology projects that are significant in scope and impact. The core elements of the job are about organizing resources along with time management and seeing projects through from inception to completion. This hands-on position requires a person to have top-notch project management related skills that are adaptable and versatile based upon whatever situation arises, as well as strong applications, solutions architecture and infrastructure knowledge.
Define project requirements by defining project charters, identifying project milestones, phases, and elements, form/lead project teams, and establishing and managing project budgets
Lead the elicitation process, navigating the competing needs of multiple stakeholder groups, defining and documenting an end-to-end business process that is accepted by all groups, and mapping out technical or other requirements to support the needs and the process
Lead the development and implementation of a broad, coordinated set of plans and programs to meet the goals
Identify current and future state business processes helping business stakeholders envision the future and how their work will change to support the future
Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients.
Ensures that project status, issues and successes are communicated to project team, stakeholders, sponsors, steering committee and all levels of management and documented appropriately
Cultivate and maintain client relationships at multiple levels to foster adoption and satisfaction
Collaborate with IT leadership to assemble and manage project resources.
Prepare and present process summaries to communicate the financial and operation impact of proposed changes
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization in both written and oral forms and at varying degrees of detail. This includes writing reports, presenting findings, and facilitating group sessions
Strong business acumen. Ability to identify business needs, expectations, and requirements for technology-based solutions in the areas being supported
Ability to connect with clients and internally with our technical teams
Must possess exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Demonstrated skills regarding influence, persuasion, communication, and change management.
Understanding of databases, data warehouses, SQL and SQL jobs is a plus
Competency in Microsoft Office applications and MS Project is required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree is preferred
6+ years of professional Project Management experience (actual END to END PM experience)
Must have functional understanding of business processes and detailed knowledge of systems and applications
Must demonstrate keen problem-solving skills, ability to deal with complex situations and recommend a course of action in addition to analyzing and interpreting data to arrive at business solutions
Experience in designing mock ups, writing test scripts, and data modeling is required
PMP or other Project Management certification is a plus
Experience in CPG/manufacturing companies and ERP Software implementations a plus
