  • Overview

    This role will manage the daily operation from order visibility to delivery and will be challenged to develop an excellent working relationship with the carriers. This role will designate the right carrier on the right lanes at the right prices and monitor the TMS and MS closely to ensure compliance and identify cost savings opportunities. The role will implement process that will allow Palermo’s to be a shipper of choice.


    • Responsible for actively monitoring all customer deliveries.
    • Daily communication with service providers and managed services to ensure compliance.
    • Collaborate with peers to drive improvements in division performance against key metrics.
    • Continuously pursue opportunities to improve routing operations and reduce cost.
    • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with customers, carriers and Palermo’s team.
    • Develops and maintains superior service levels and ensure growth at profitable levels.
    • Execute freight claim to payment process.
    • Pro-actively identify problems and the ability to implement the appropriate solution.
    • Research, manage and approve all accessorial charges.
    • Load plan LTL, TL and multi-stop truckload.
    • Improve customer scorecard results
    • Lead weekly meetings with other supply chain and customer service personnel to proactively troubleshoot or discuss lessons learned.
    • Lead strategic projects as requested.
    • Support a 24/7 production environment; off-hour and weekend support for warehouse issues impacting Customer Service, Distribution Centers, Carriers and Operations.



    • Transportation experience required.
    • TMS experience required.
    • Experience in all modes of transportation i.e. intermodal, rail, air and parcel a plus.
    • Self-directed, Self-motivated, works well in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with capability of building consensus and driving issue resolution.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills (Ability to influence and persuade).
    • ERP System Experience; NAV a plus.
    • Computer skills including advanced understanding of Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (including pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas, and Query writing)
    • Proficient in navigating carrier, warehouse and customer portals/websites.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • Strong understanding of HOS, FMCSA regulations and CSA scores.


    • BS/BA in Business Administration/Supply Chain/Operations Management or related field from a 4-year accredited
    • 5 years’ experience in Supply Chain preferably in the areas of logistics / transportation
